AUSTIN (KXAN) — A man has been arrested for allegedly assaulting a woman walking to work at the Driskill Hotel April 20, according to the affidavit.

The victim told police she was one block from the hotel around 5:15 a.m. when she approached by a man later identified by police as 44-year-old Douglas Jacob. The call to Austin police stated a man had attempted to rape a woman.

In the affidavit the victim stated she was approached by Jacob who asked if he could talk to her. Despite her refusal, according to the victim, Jacob followed her down an alley near the Driskill Hotel employee entrance.

When she asked Jacob to “stop harassing” her, the affidavit states, he started punching her face saying she was “pissing him off.” As she tried to run away from Jacob, he continued to punch her face and threw her down on the ground. The victim told officers she tried to cover her face while kicking back in self-defense.

Jacob didn’t stop until a security officer made his way towards the attacker. It was then Jacob ran off. The security officer was able to give police a description of the attacker; stating he found Jacob with his pants around his knees while he was standing above the victim. He told police he assumed Jacob was trying to rape the woman.

Police found Jacob on 6th Street. He admitted to officers he had smoked crack cocaine and K2. In the affidavit, Jacob told police he was attempting to get money from the woman to buy more drugs. When asked why his pants were down, Jacob said they fell during the attack.

The victim described the results of the attack as causing her extreme pain to the face, and jaw. Police noted cuts on her elbows, busted lips, and swollen face.
