PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) – A registered sex offender, who has 17 felony convictions to his name, has been arrested on allegations of first-degree kidnapping and first-degree rape.

Harrison Bernard Funchess, 54, was arrested in the 9000 block of N. Peninsular Avenue on Wednesday. He appeared in court on Thursday.

On Feb. 25, 2016, officers responded to a North Portland bar to investigate an assault. The alleged victim claimed that four days earlier, as she was getting of a MAX train, she ran into a guy she knows as “Pappy.”

“Pappy” reportedly invited the woman over to his house where he offered her methamphetamine. The woman suffers from mental illness and had been off her medications, according to court documents.

The woman told police that while inside the house, “Pappy” told her that he was not going to let her leave. “Pappy” then forced the woman to have sex with him, according to court records.

During a sexual assault examination, medical staff found bite marks on the woman’s body along with bruising.

DNA collected during the examination came back as a “hit” on Funchess, according to court documents.
