Police are seeking two men who broke into a home in Riverside in the middle of the night and sexually assaulted a woman before fleeing with some of her property.

The home invasion and assault happened Tuesday in the Canyon Crest neighborhood southwest of the Canyon Crest Country Club golf course, according to the Riverside Police Department.

The woman told police she was awakened just after 2 a.m. when she heard her dog barking frantically. Two men then broke into her home, sexually assaulted her and fled with property from the home, police said.

"She was actually awakened by her dog, which was really frantic and excited, and found two suspects inside her residence. The suspects then committed a sexual assault against her and fled with some of her property," Ryan Railsback with the Riverside Police Department said.

Officials said they were not signs of forced entry into the home.

Officers searched the area, but were unable to locate the two suspects. They were able to compile a sketch of one suspect.

The first suspect is described as a black man, age 20 to 29 years, 5 feet 9 inches to 5 feet 11 inches tall, with medium build and dark hair.

The second suspect is described as a black man, about 6 feet tall, with a thin build of around 155 to 160 pounds, and wearing either a sports headband or baseball hat.

The suspects fled the area in a car described as a dark-colored Honda Accord four-door, mid-'90s model, with tinted windows and possibly damage to the driver's side door. It has a California license plate with a partial number of 6XG.
