An Orthodox Jewish man was slashed several times inside a Greenwich Village subway station early Friday, police sources said.

Cops found the bloodied victim, who is in his 50s and doesn’t speak English, inside the Bleeker Street station with slash wounds to his face, neck, arm and hands at around 3:15 a.m. after two people flagged down a police car on the street for help, cops said.

The man – who was wearing traditional Hasidic clothing — was rushed to Bellevue Hospital and was expected to survive following the attack on the southbound No. 6 subway platform, police said.

The suspect is still at large.

Cops are getting an interpreter  to go to the hospital to speak with the victim, police said.

Friday’s attack was the latest in a wave of knife attacks in the city – an increase of 18 percent this year.

In January, a 71-year-old woman was slashed at the same station by a grinning stranger sitting across from her on a D train. She was left with a 4-inch gash on her cheek and needed 30 stitches.

The suspect, Damon Knowles, 21, told cops he attacked the grandmother because he felt threatened by her, according to court papers. He pleaded not guilty to assault.

In February, a 25-year-old Orthodox Jewish man was knifed while walking on Empire Boulevard in Crown Heights, Brooklyn. Keny Rochelin, 26, was charged with attempted murder as a hate crime.

Due to the police investigation Friday, the No. 4 and 6 trains are bypassing the station in both directions.

The B, D, F and M lines are unaffected.

Police Release New Video After Israeli Tourist Slashed On Subway Platform
April 9, 2016 8:26 AM

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) — Police have released new surveillance video in connection to a slashing attack on a Israeli tourist in Greenwich Village early Friday morning.

The video shows the struggle between the suspect and the victim shoving one another, CBS2’s Magdalena Doris reported. A man in an orange sweatshirt can be seen pushing the victim against the turnstile door on the platform of the 6 train at Bleecker Street.

According to investigators, the victim is a 55-year-old Israeli tourist who only speaks Yiddish. He was wearing traditional Hasidic clothing at the time of the attack.

The victim was on his way from Brooklyn to visit friends in the Diamond district :rolleyes:when he got lost riding the train, Doris reported. He sat down on a bench on the subway platform to look through a map and dozed off.

At 3:13 Friday morning, police say the victim woke up to the suspect using a knife to cut through his pockets. The suspect then slashed the victim in the face, hands and neck before fleeing with cash.

The victim was taken to Bellevue hospital in stable condition.

Suspect arrested in Greenwich Village subway station slashing

NOHO, Manhattan (WABC) --
Police say the homeless man suspected in a slashing at a Lower Manhattan subway station last Friday has been arrested.

Marvin Taylor, 24, was taken into custody in Greenwich Village Sunday.

Taylor, who has at least 10 prior arrests, is charged with robbery, assault and criminal possession of a weapon.

The victim, a 55-year-old Israeli man, was reportedly sleeping on a subway bench when he was attacked at 3:13 a.m. Apparently he became lost in the subway system, sat down and fell asleep. Police say he awoke to the suspect attempting to rob him, and he was slashed multiple times in the neck, face and hands during the attack.

The victim walked out of the station and was met on the street by several tourists, who helped him find police.

Police brought interpreters to the hospital, where the victim was interviewed in Yiddish. He was wearing Hasidic clothing at the time of the attack.
