DA: 3 Charged Following “No Gay Thursday” Hazing At Chester County High School
March 4, 2016 10:50 AM

TREDYFFRIN Twp., Pa. (CBS) — Chester County DA Tom Hogan announced disturbing findings following a hazing investigation at a Chester County high school.

The hazing allegations involved football players at Conestoga High School.

The DA says the alleged hazing involved a day called “No Gay Thursday.”

He says out of “No Gay Thursday” came an incident of violence, which led to charges.

“On October 15, 2015, which was a Thursday, the victim was a freshman, 14 years old, 5’7″, about 160 pounds. He was a good athlete. Good enough, that as a freshman he was on the varsity team, and he was cocky about it. He would tell the upperclassmen he was good, and they didn’t like that and it all came to a head.”

DA Hogan continues, “On this ‘No Gay Thursday’ the underclassmen were ordered by upperclassmen to strip to their underwear and clean the lockeroom. The victim went along with it at first and stripped down to his boxers. Soon, he decided he did not want any part of this and tried to leave the lockeroom. He was grabbed and blocked. Two seniors then held him down and an order was given by an upperclassman.”

“The order was ‘shove a broom up his (expletive.)'” :ha:

The DA says the one who gave the order started poking the victim between his legs, then under his boxers until he did penetrate the victim with the broom.

“Kids reported the victim was yelling and screaming, but he did not have a friend in that lockerroom.”

The DA says the two who held the victim down and the third who allegedly committed the act are being charged.

The charges include conspiracy, assault, possessing an instrument of crime, unlawful restraint, terroristic threats and other offenses.

High School Coach Resigns Amid 'No Gay Thursday' Hazing
Prosecutors have said there's no evidence the coaching staff knew of the team's hazing culture.

A high school football coach in suburban Philadelphia has resigned amid accusations that three senior football players sexually assaulting a freshman on what the team called "No Gay Thursday."

Tredyffrin-Easttown School District officials said Thursday that Conestoga High School's locker rooms had "an insufficient adult presence" which created an environment where hazing could occur.

Prosecutors say three 17-year-old students at the school held down a 14-year-old boy in October and penetrated him with the broom handle while he squealed like a pig.

The school district told families in a letter Thursday that longtime head football coach John Vogan has resigned effective immediately. They also say the varsity and junior-varsity football staff has been relieved of coaching duties.

Prosecutors have said there's no evidence the coaching staff knew of the team's hazing culture.

Conestoga is among the most highly ranked schools in Pennsylvania for academics.
