Man accused of rape also identified as Wilton Manors laundromat burglar, police say

Police say a coin laundry burglar who got away in Wilton Manors was later arrested and accused of rape in Fort Lauderdale.

Ferondo Randall, 40, of Fort Lauderdale, remains jailed without bond, records show.

He was arrested Wednesday following the rape allegation in Fort Lauderdale and the burglary of Bubbles Laundry, 2605 N. Andrews Ave., in Wilton Manors earlier this month.

According to Wilton Manors police, a burglar later identified as Randall tried but failed to force open the door of a locked office inside the 24-hour-laundromat on Feb. 1. He then spent more than 30 minutes stacking items as he tried to find another way to break in, investigators say.

Surveillance footage showed the burglar trying to balance himself on top of stacked items placed on a chair and falling to the ground at least twice, bringing ceiling tiles down with him. During one of his attempts, he got tangled up in wires before falling and running away.

Investigators released surveillance video of the 5 a.m. burglary in the hope a member of the public could identify him. But detectives were only led to Randall after the reported rape
