Camden County Freeholders Pass Resolution Condemning Hate Speech
February 5, 2016 4:00 AM By David Madden

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) — Hate speech targeted at Muslims has been on the rise in recent months fueled in part by terrorism and in part by presidential politics. That trend has prompted officials in Camden County to take measures aimed at turning the trend around. County freeholders passed a resolution condemning hate speech in general and expressing solidarity with the Muslim community. That move was led by Freeloader Jeffrey Nash.

“The Presidential politics produces a certain political rhetoric. It is important from our perspective that we not be guided by fear that is fueled by bigotry and hate speech,” Nash said.

While a resolution might only reflect the sentiment of a particular governmental body, he hopes that a meeting Monday night in Cherry Hill will go a bit further. The session, at the Katz Jewish Community Center, is open to the public. It will feature Jewish and Muslim leaders in South Jersey who hope to tackle radical hate speech head-on.
