2:39 p.m. EST December 1, 2015

LANSING - The second trial of Ahmad Davis, who is charged with shooting and killing a Lansing man after a home invasion last year, began today. A jury failed to reach a verdict in July.

Davis, who is 29 and lives in Lansing, faces murder, armed robbery, first-degree home invasion and two weapons charges in connection with the shooting death of 30-year-old Jo Lee Van Buren in May of last year.

Rachel Johnson, with whom Van Buren lived and dealt drugs, earlier testified that Van Buren fought a masked gunman who broke into their home in the 1300 block of Roosevelt Avenue and demanded money. Johnson earlier testified that she heard two gunshots after running outside for help, and found Van Buren bleeding to death on the floor and the suspect gone when she returned. Van Buren later died at a local hospital from a shotgun wound to the chest.
