Murderer who beat three shopkeepers to death with a hammer tries to halt Tuesday execution saying a lethal injection could trigger 'severe pain' because of a lingering brain tumor

Ernest Lee Johnson is set to be executed in Missouri on Tuesday
The 55-year-old man was found guilty of beating three shopkeepers to death with a claw hammer in 1994
Johnson is appealing to the U.S. Supreme Court to spare his life
He says the lethal injection will be severely painful for him due to a lingering brain tumor
