The former Booker T. Washington High School student who received probation for raping a 14-year-old classmate is scheduled to go before a state district judge to have his sentence reconsidered Friday.

Sir :pKhalil Young confessed to forcing the girl to have sex in a practice room at the high school for performing and visual arts when he was 18. His case attracted national attention last year after he received five years of probation, in part because state District Judge Jeanine Howard believed the girl wasn’t “wasn’t the victim she claimed to be.”

Prosecutors now seek to revoke Young’s probation because they say he did not follow the conditions. He will appear before state District Judge Carter Thompson, who took over the case after Howard recused herself.

Young, now 22, faces up to 20 years in prison. The judge could also leave his probation in place, though Thompson previously warned Young not to expect another chance.
